This app is a big help! In addition to the names of all types of French dishes, meats, vegetables, desserts, etc.. it also includes common phrases you can expect to hear or say in restaurants. The phrases can be listened to and...best of all...you can record yourself saying them and then play them back for review. This alone is worth more than $0.99! The only negative aspect is there are no pronunciations for the lists of dishes, food items, etc.,...only the phrases. This will be 5 stars if you can hear everything pronounced. Also, please keep adding more information...more dishes, sauces, methods of cooking, etc. Love this app!
I bought this app before a trip to France. It was not helpful at all. Imagine: You dont speak French (I dont). You cant read French (I cant). You dont understand French when it is spoken to you (I dont). The app translates specific terms that might be found in specific sections of a menu: "What you might be asked," "Starters and Soups," "Main courses" ... It can only be scrolled, there is no search function. When I was in a restaurant, I was presented with their menu. My goal was to translate as much of the menu as possible so I could make my selection. This app was not helpful at all with that task. I used sign language to communicate very effectively with servers. There is no way Id be able to listen to what they said and find the appropriate translation in the app. A good idea, but not useful for the non-French literate traveler. A waste of $0.99
Doesnt recognize my Bluetooth headset on my iphone--plays thru phone speaker. Headset is only way to hear in restaurant. Please fix for next update
Entire first section, the language for dining, does not have working voice. This was the main reason I purchased the app.
